The weighted compression vest provides calming proprioceptive input. The combination of pressure and weight feels like a wonderful hug. Vests are made of neoprene, and are designed for comfort with soft mesh material on the sides to increase air flow and ventilation. Weights are safely positioned in pockets inside the vest and can be added or removed. Vests include two 1/2 pound weights and four 1/4 pound weights for a total of 2 pounds. Hook and loop closures on the sides allow for maximum comfort, easy sizing, and quick removal. Our vests are cold water machine washable when weights are removed.

This vest is one of the few things I have purchased for my 12 year old Aspie son which have actually helped him. He puts it on without complaining and he doesn't seem to get too hot in it. Their are two minor reasons that I didn't give this an excellent rating. First, this velcro sticks to the vest material when he takes it off. This hasn't damaged the vest, but it would be nice if I didn't have to rip the velcro off the vest material to then stick it on the opposite velcro strip. Second, the material between the 2 strips of velcro on each side started to tear after about a week. I don't think this will ever cause a problem, but perhaps a slightly different design might prevent this. Don't get me wrong, I have and will recommend this product to friends. This vest has helped more than year of therapy! My son says wearing the vest doesn't keep him from starting to get upset. But it helps him calm down in about 2 seconds. Pretty impressive!

The OT at my son's therapy suggested a neoprene weighted vest to help him with feeling the big hugging sensations he loves. and to gain better balance. Whenever he's having a meltdown or a rough time of it or tripping and falling, I put the vest on and it literally transforms his behavior immediately. He can walk in a straight line, he calms down, he starts to focus. this vest fits very well and provides everything we were looking for for him (and the state clinic was going to order some for their classroom as well). Fantastic find and the best bang for buck I've come across.
