Autism Potty Training Tips and Tools

A variety of factors may affect potty training. Recommendations suggest that a child be at least 18 months old before starting toilet training. When potty training children on the autism spectrum there are several factors that need to be taken into consideration. Factors include communication delays, sensory process difficulties, sensitivity to stimulation, limited ability to imitate, compromised motor planning, and preference for routine.
