Product Details
Have a student who loves to bite their pencil? Our chewable pencil toppers are designed to fit tightly over the top of a standard pencil. New design allows for a no slip fit. These chewable pencil toppers are now slightly shorter and come in a set of five. Note: they are not sealed at the end so no need to worry about scratched cheeks or sores on the inside of the mouth. Great for students who chew on their pencils, hair or clothing. The discreet clear design of these chewable pencil tops make them a great option for mainstreamed special students.

Chewing can be both calming and help with focus. Use these pencil toppers to assist work productivity, focus and concentration. These pencil tops work great in environments where chewing gum is not allowed. A lifesaver for homework, too!

Note: This product does not contain phthalates.

Set of 5.

I love that they are clear, so not as noticeable when she needs to chew one in public places. Easy to clean, Pretty durable. She's only chewed through one. Good value.

I think these work well for what they are intended for, however my son is an *excessive* chewer and the open top of the tube served as an area for saliva to collect in and then we had behavioral problems with spit flinging. He also sucks on it and the noises it made were disturbing to the other children. Something solid probably would have worked better for us.

Good for kids who need oral stimulus, November 30, 2011

My daughter has been putting things in her mouth since birth. When her teacher expressed concern over safety, these were a recommendation. I wish they were a bit longer to fit a standard pencil, but once the pencil wears down a bit, it fits better. Overall, it has stopped her from chewing her hair, clothes and other items.

Purchased these for a client of mine going into middle school who really needed a sensory chewable item and didn't want to stand out from his peers. These were great for that!!

I thought it was a great idea, but actually my son did not get too excited about it. I am going to try the necklace now.

I think these are helpful. My daughter isnt cutting her gums on the metal part of her pencil at least. I would love to see them make a closed ended one since my daughter has a habit of pushing the topper down until the eraser is exposed. Overall the product is still helpful

I had a 4th grade student with Autism who chewed his pencils down to the lead. I searched for a solution that would allow him to still use the pencil. Your pencil toppers were an instant hit. He would chew harder when thinking on a problem. He would search for "his" pencil in a container of pencils. I am very pleased with this product and the results.

As an OT working in the preschool setting, I use these frequently with children who constantly seek oral input. I don't even need to tell them what to do - just hand them a pencil for a pre-writing activity and they start chewing. Teachers love them because they don't draw attention to the child.

These work well for older students who tend to chew on their pencils or who need something to fiddle with while listening to instructions. They stay on better than other pencil toppers. As with all of the sensory products, agreements have to be made about how they are used in the classroom or else they will go flying. Have enough for several students to try it, everyone then gets a sense of why it is being used in the classroom and then it is not seen as something special for one student.

  Didn't fit my needs, September 24, 2011

There was not an image when I ordered, so I did not have the benefit of seeing the product. My son only likes bumpy textures, so this was not what I needed. Also, the pencils get stuck in the toppers, which isn't good.

Really nice for those upper elementary and middle school students that need a more age-appropriate chew object. Can be kind of messy, depending on how much it is used!

These protected my son's pencil erasers for about a week. Unfortunately he managed to chew right through them.

Held up well to chewing over several months. Was also more discreet way to fulfill chewing needs in general ed classroom.

these do not fit on top of a pencil therefore have a tendancy to get lost, however they were great in a school environment where gum was not permitted!

great idea for letting them chew discreetly- and definitely made to take some serious chewing- only problem is that you can't get them back off the pencil to clean them- which ends up being a big problem since they tend to get saliva in them,,,,

My girl used to chew on everything ( including dry wall). Last year she ate pencils non-stop. Her teacher suggested your products and she has stopped biting pencils or the led. In combination to other products from this site, my girl has gotten so much better! I would reccomend this product to anyone.
